Biography
Joycelyn is a dynamic speaker, advocate, and thought leader in the field of financial wellness, racial equity, and wealth management. With a diverse background spanning Wall Street, nonprofit leadership, and academic research, Joycelyn brings a unique perspective to the conversation on empowering individuals and communities through financial literacy and addressing the racial wealth gap.
Having begun her career in wealth management on Wall Street, Joycelyn witnessed firsthand the complexities and disparities that exist within the financial system. Driven by a passion for creating positive change, she transitioned into the nonprofit sector and currently serves as a Nonprofit Director at MLT (Management Leadership for Tomorrow), an organization dedicated to advancing racial equity and empowering underrepresented individuals.
Joycelyn holds a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Florida A&M University, as well as a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Florida International University. Her academic journey has provided a strong foundation for their research interests, which revolve around financial literacy, the racial wealth gap, and strategies to promote racial equity. Through their research, Joycelyn seeks to shed light on the systemic barriers that perpetuate wealth disparities and drive meaningful change through actionable solutions.
